Ramatuelle, Nr St Tropez
by

What a stunning hilltop village just a few kilometers away from the hustle and bustle of St Tropez. A recent visit (June 2008) was a delight. We arrive late in the afternoon and there were very few visitors in the lovely courtyards and serpentine alleys of this impressive village.
In June Ramatuelle’s children and shopkeepers make scarecrows (epouvantails), some very jolly indeed, which are artistically placed around the village. When we asked why in a local soap shop we were told it was just for fun – not a bad reason at all. Also pictures and informative descriptions are attached to the beautiful plants one finds throughout the village. Be sure to park below the village in one of a number of car parks and climb (not too hard) up the winding Rue des Sarrasins to the church in the village’s attractive centre.
