Lois & Clive Edwards

by  Lois & Clive Edwards

Clive and Lois are perhaps known to some readers as the former editors of The Alan Rogers campsite guides, a position which, for over twenty years,  provided them with the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe in the course of inspecting literally thousands of campsites, and they have driven more than a quarter of a million miles on the roads of continental Europe.

They are now semi-retired and live in Dorset, but still spend quite a lot of time abroad particularly in the Languedoc region of France, normally accompanied by their two Westies, where they still make a number of campsite inspections from their base in Le Grau d’Agde.

Clive’s interests include boating, these days mainly on the French inland waterways and the Golfe du Lion, and until quite recently he was actively involved in motorsport as a rally driver competing in Historic Rallies, including the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique on several occasions, and on the Tulip Rally, the Rallye des Pyrenees and the Rallye International de Belgique, in the course of which he has driven some 20,000 miles. He’s a member of the International Rally Drivers Club, and the Guild of Motoring Writers.

So far as inspecting campsites is concerned, Lois has accumulated more miles even than Clive, and visited a lot more sites, and until recently she was also the Membership Secretary of the Caravan Writers Guild.  Previously Lois worked for The Thursford Collection in Norfolk, one of the largest Tourist Attractions in East Anglia, where she was active in promoting all the local tourist attractions.

She is hoping now to have more time to visit all those wonderful natural attractions, historic castles, monasteries and cathedrals which previously she’s had to speed past! She’s also looking forward to shopping in the many wonderful markets and enjoying real French food!
