John Parsons & Pat Taylor

by  John Parsons & Pat Taylor

John has a cv that looks as if it was made up as he went along, which is largely how his career developed.  Trained as a vehicle engineer he spent 18 years in the army specialising in vehicle reliability and reaching the rank of Major, then turned his back on uniforms and went to help run a county council fleet of 1000 lorries, vans, trailers and lawnmowers.

One day standing in the snow counting the lawnmowers, a phone call offered him a job on the commercial vehicle paper ‘Motor Transport’.  Well, that started a 27-year journalistic third career that is still going.  Some 11 years at The Caravan Club as Technical Manager and then Head of PR gave him the grounding from which most of his work now comes as a feeelance specialising in technical, standards, ergonomic and legal matters.  He writes from time to time for most of the caravan and motorhome magazines and is often asked to judge industry awards and competitions.

To relax he and his partner and business associate Pat Taylor love towing a caravan or driving a motorhome to any part of the UK that offers visual beauty, relaxation, good pubs – and some shops!  As well as being a Chartered Engineer,

John is also professionally qualified as a road transport engineer, a computer systems analyst, and a magazine journalist.  You couldn’t make it up…
