Colin’s wanderlust began on joining the Royal Navy at the age of 17. The next 37 years were spent travelling the world extensively whilst serving within a variety of military organisations. This gave him a very broad perspective of the planet and its people, and an abiding passion for seeing and understanding what makes our world tick.
Since leaving the military he has spent many months of each of the last 11 years touring Europe extensively by motorhome between Spring & Autumn, before moving on to a variety of countries in the southern hemisphere during northern winters. As a freelance travel writer he has provided written commentaries and more formalised assessments for a wide variety of UK and international travel organisations, and has been successful in humour publishing. A specialist in getting under the skin of the countries he visits, his work is characterised by practicality, colour and an irrepressible sense of fun.
